Dreamin' of Summer

Warm blue oceans.... Silver Sands... Can't help dreamin' about summer. I came across a few pictures for Summer 2012 and was mesmerized by the way the warm blues and greens of the scenery bring out the texture in the clothing. The sun kissed glowing skin and effortless hairdo give these looks a relaxed charm which is perfect for a bright summer's day.

Wedges....

Hail the Wedge! Wedges are the most comfortable type of shoe out there. It gives you the height and elongates your legs with out the discomfort of the heel. Perfect for long hours on your feet! I've been on the lookout for the right pair of wedge booties and snagged a pair at a 70% off sale recently, sweet! These kinds of shoes are right for any season and them being in trend for Spring 2012 doesn't hurt either.

Wedge ankle length boots are a good option for the winter. The heel is supportive enough and provides just the right amount of grip so that you don't go slippin' n slidin' around.

Anything with a wedge heel seems to be right for this coming spring. One of the main things to look out for when choosing your wedges is the amount of ankle support. You want to choose something that has dainty looking ankle support to offset the chunkiness of the heel but not something that is flimsy and will give away easily.

Some of the wedge options to look out for seem to be

Bright colors

Tribal prints and Tribal motif

and Floral prints

Whatever season you choose to wear it in and whatever style you choose to rock, personalize it and make it your own!

Good Ol' thick eyebrows

There is something elegant and charming about thick eyebrows. It lends the face a certain gentleness that thin heavily arched eyebrows do not. There is a difference between thick unmaintained bushy eyebrows and well groomed ones, so don't be scared to go the thicker route if you haven't already.

Growing out your eyebrows can take a while, but quick fixes are readily available. Eyebrow pencils and a small eyebrow brush is all that you will need. Dark brown to light brown eyeshadow can also be used to fill in the sparse areas depending on your hair color, but it is recommended you also use a light wax and brush through it to hold it in place.

Have overly plucked eyebrows? why not try warm castor oil as a treatment at night, it really does help. I myself have eyebrows which are on the thicker side, just glad I do not have to over pluck them (ouch).

P.S - The secret to perfectly groomed salon style eyebrows - a pair of scissors! Trim away the strays and unruly hairs for a clean well maintained look.

Super high ponytail!

Tired of leaving your hair down everyday? Want to try something different? Why not try the super high ponytail... the keywords being 'super' and 'high'. Not only is this a great way to wear your hair on the second or third day after a wash when your hair and scalp are starting to get a little oily (ewww... I know), it's super easy and elegant as well.

This ponytail needs to look sleek, simple and super high. The easiest way to achieve this look is to tip your head back (not forward) and gently gather the hair at the top of your head, doing so will avoid 'hair dents' by allowing hair to naturally fall into place. Now tightly tie it place with a clear heavy duty elastic. You can wrap strands of hair at the base of the ponytail for it to stand out more from your scalp or you can leave it as is.

This seems to be inspired by the 'I love genie' look recently featured on runways and is fun to try especially with your hair swishing as you walk. Let me know how you make this your own.

Technicolor Dreamcoat

Overcoats in a rainbow of shades are coming to overhaul the muted colors associated with winter - black, brown, grey. Runways featured standout brightly colored coats from mettalic gold and turmeric yellow to wearable powder blues and dusty pinks. Trend to try?

Warming up to Leg Warmers!

Leg warmers are making a comeback this season. Yes! the 80's school girl trend is back. When paired with the right length boot they look ultra chic. They can be worn with skirts to provide the needed warmth or layered over skinny jeans. Chunky knitted leg warmers with bright Missoni-esque patterns are the way to go this season.

If leg warmers do not interest you or you do not like the snug feel then another option to try would be hand warmers. Below is a pic of a rocker-chic hand warmer with a girly bow detailing.

Hands or legs, this is a stylish way to stay warm and a definite must try.

Wearable face for fall 2011

This year the trend for fall seems to be the color Crimson - everything from deep crimson nails to crimson fall coats are IN! Crimson is a great color to wear on the lips but can be a little tricky to carry off on the eyes, when over done it may look like you may have a case of conjunctivitis. This fall, crimson eyeshadow is the way to go; when paired with muddy brown it looks absolutely gorgeous. To break the monotony of these deep shades you can pair it with a lighter brighter color like yellow, orange or gold.

Above is my look for fall incorporating these trends. It's simple enough to be an everyday look and yet stay on top of the trends. This look suits brown eyes but can even look great with hazel and green eyes.
